Like any other aspect of social media, blogging needs to be a frequent, and long-term strategy in your marketing plan.
If you blog once a month, and aren’t seeing an increase in traffic, page hits, or readers, it may be time to ramp up your efforts. Readers need some form of regularity.
Why not try blogging once a week? It’s OK to vary things up a little bit. You can do some long posts, some short posts. You can do posts that touch on your business’s services and posts that do not.
Blogger Seth Godin provides excellent examples of all that can be accomplished in a short amount of words. Not every post needs to be an opus.
It may take trying a few different strategies before you find success. It may take extensive promotional efforts to find an audience. One thing will remain the same: Nothing beats consistent, quality content published on regular basis.
If you’re not a scribe, you might want to hire a freelance writer to help your business communicate its message.
Matt Brennan is a Chicago-area marketing writer and copy editor. He is also the author of Write Right-Sell Now.
