Alright, so you’ve been told that you need to produce quality content in order to gain an audience for your blog, but how do you do that? It’s something that’s much easier said than done. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Generate an ideas list—If you have great blog ideas, write them down. Write a few summary sentences to help you preserve the idea. This list ensures your best ideas are always at your fingertips. It will also help you fulfill another blogging mantra, to blog frequently.
Read everything—Read industry magazines, websites and blogs. These will help you keep up on all the latest news, and help you to generate ideas. Read your competition’s blogs as well. Read things that are completely unrelated. It’s the best way to connect new ideas that will help with your creativity.
Ignore distractions—What’s that, you don’t have the time to blog and write as much as you want to? How about finding an hour where you shut down and ignore Facebook. You don’t pay attention to the email notifier. For this hour, you’ll need a lock on the door, a good pair of headphones to drowned out sound, or both.
Get personal—It’s ok to reveal some personality. Tell a story from your personal life. Reveal an interest. Your readers will come to know you and appreciate it.
Improve your writing—Practice exceptional word choice. Make sure your spelling and grammar are correct. I know I’ve said this over and over, but one simple mistake can create a disastrous impact.
Learn what your readers want—Who are you writing to? It’s time to find out what they want to know about your industry, and provide it. If you don’t know, ask.
